Juan C. Calvo (born Juan Camilo Calvo Abaunza, on October 23, 1997 in Bogotá, Colombia) is a Colombian singer, songwriter, musician and doctor belonging to the rock/pop genre in Spanish and ballads; who from introspection diversifies the pleasure that music generates in silence. Its objective is to show the whole world the multifaceted nature of music and break with the idea that the individual was born to belong to a single discipline. The artist has released his recent album called "Un Fragmento". In addition, he makes medical content on his TikTok account.

Juan C. Calvo was born under the name of Juan Camilo Calvo Abaunza, on October 23, 1997, in Bogotá - Colombia. He grew up in Tunja, Colombia for 17 years, where he finished his high school studies at Colegio Andino de Tunja. In 2015, he moved to the city of Villavicencio for 6 more years to finish his professional studies as a general practitioner at the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, until 2022 (currently an intern doctor). Since then he is a composer, singer and musician of rock in Spanish, in addition to various other musical genres.
FIRST YEARS
Juan C. Calvo was born into a Colombian family; son of Nancy and Sigifredo, and brother of Juliana and Andrés. From a very young age he had a taste for music, beginning to play the guitar due to the great amazement that it generated when one of his classmates played the instrument and he could not due to the lack of resources to acquire it. Thanks to his uncle, Calvo acquires his first electric guitar. Some time later, his parents gave him his first acoustic guitar.
The artist spent his early years between biology, music, astronomy, photography, science and literature. He was fortunate to listen to and read the most recognized artists and writers of his genre, thanks to the influence of his brother. Works such as: "The Client" by John Grisham, "Duel in Chinatown" by Willian C. Gordon, "As the Snow Falls" by Steve Thayer, and “The music of silence” by Sergio Bambarén, “One hundred years of solitude” by Gabriel García Márquez, “The impostors” by Santiago Gamboa, among others. Ricardo Arjona, Reik, Camila, Kudai, Don tetto, 30 seconds to mars, My Chemical Romance, Heroes of silence, Zoé, The Mills, Aterciopelados, Soda stereo, Elefantes and the prisoners were also among his most listened to artists.
MUSICAL CAREER
BEGINNING
His musical career formally began at the age of 14, when he acquired his first electric guitar with which he was part of his eagerness to learn that instrument, thanks to his uncle and with the help of his cousin. Some time later, his parents gave him his first acoustic guitar that, with the help of a military man and an instructor from his school, he learned and instructed himself more in music. He started playing the guitar in 2010 in a school group called “Camilo y Mario”. Between 2012 and 2014 he was the guitarist for a soloist called “Mapu” from his school. Between 2015 and 2016 he was an acoustic guitarist for a band called "Tropipop" and participated in the XXI Regional Meeting ASCÚN Cultura Nodo Oriente in the city of Bucaramanga from August 25 to 27, 2016, achieving local and regional classification in the category "Unreleased Song ” and “Feminine modality, taking with it two prizes. Finally, the band qualified for the national meeting but was not the winner. At the end of 2016, the band disbanded.
After a few years, Calvo became interested in forming several musical groups as a guitarist and with highlights in each of the instruments in order to take composition to another level. However, his project was a failure due to the disinterest of the members. That is why he begins to reform his solo project. In 2019 he composes “Carne y Hueso” due to a catastrophic event in his life, which changed his musical course as a guitarist and added composition followed by singing.
AN UNEXPECTED NEWS
In early 2021, Juan C. was diagnosed with thyroid cancer; pathology that he had carried with him for more than two years and was passed by as unnoticed by the artist, due to lack of early diagnosis. Fortunately, months later, he underwent head and neck surgery in which the tumor was removed favorably. However, he had to receive speech therapy since his voice was compromised. To this day, Calvo is already recovering and has fortunately returned to singing.
PRESENT
In December 2020, he released his first single titled "Bestia Animal" in the classic style of rock in Spanish written by Calvo, whose video was released months later and filmed by Boyacá Marketing in the orange forests of Altagracia in the city of Tunja, Colombia. . At the end of December, he released the single “Penélope”, a rock and romantic ballad, whose video will be released months later and filmed in Bogotá, Colombia. On January 6, 2021, “Para Que No Te Olvides” Acústico came to light, in the pop/rock style with a video clip in an acoustic session and months later the official video clip of this song will be published. On June 29, he released his single "Remember" accompanied by a video clip which was recorded in Ranchón del Maporal in the city of Villavicencio, Colombia.
In 2022 his first album “Un Fragmento” was released, consisting of 6 songs and with different classic rock sounds accompanied by ballads, pop and other genres. This album is a rather irregular part that is not perceived directly, because according to the artist, the album is still rock, but it is the content of the lyrics and the auditory experimentation that makes the difference, making it more reflective.
Juan C. Calvo is expected to present the official video clip showing the transmigration to which he refers in the first half of this year.
